Create Account
- Go to github.com and click Sign up (upper right corner)
- Enter your email address (you'll receive repository activity alerts here)
- Create a strong password and store it in your password manager
- Choose a username (use a variation of your name or something work-related)
- Click Create Account and complete the CAPTCHA verification
- Enter the launch code sent to your email
- Log in and go to github.com/settings/profile
- Add your name in the Name field (helps team members find you)
- (Optional) Add additional profile information and/or your ORCID iD
- Click Update profile
Join the Hakai GitHub Org
You will likely need to join the Hakai Institute GitHub Org (github.com/hakaiInstitute). Discuss your requirements with your team lead and email data@hakai.org to request access.
Create a Person Access Token
In order to “clone” repositories from GitHub and allow tools like RStudio to interact with these repositories, you must Create a Personal Access Token (PAT) for HTTPS.
